To our Nixon Coyote Family,

I would like to welcome everyone to Dr. Nixon Elementary for the 2017-18 school year!  Whether you are a returning Coyote, or new to our school, we are excited to see you in August!  We will be continuing many of our great traditions such as Fall Festival and Chili Cook-Off to name a few.  We will continue to build some of our newer programs such as Coyote Strong and our Coyote HOWL, and looking for new opportunities to engage not only our students, but parents in fun and exciting ways.

As we kick off the new school year, we want to encourage positive communication and collaboration amongst school, home, and community.  My door is always open, and I welcome your questions, concerns, and feedback about school activities. In addition, our Assistant Principal, Ruth Gomez, is also available to provide support.  Our hope is to establish school-home partnership that is designed to meet the educational and social/emotional needs of all students.

We have many people on campus to help meet the needs of our students, such as our Military Family Liaison, Annette Corsaw; and our Parental Engagement Leader, Stephannie Young.  They are here to help you and know how to connect our families to other great resources throughout EPISD and El Paso.

We are hosting a Meet the Teacher night on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 5:30 p.m.  We will have a brief introductory meeting in the cafeteria, and then set up time for you to visit your children’s teachers.  We hope to see you there!

Wishing everyone a fantastic school year,

Christine Miles
