Diaz, Renee

Ms. Diaz

lo, and welcome to First Grade at Dr. Nixon Elementary.  This is my 17th year at Dr. Nixon Elementary, and I look forward to a new school year and meeting a brand new group of students.  I have a passion for teaching and enjoy working with children.   My summers are spent relaxing at home, traveling and reflecting on last year and planning for new ways to excite my students about learning.

This year your child will work towards becoming an independent reader through our reading curriculum.  We will strive to make reading a fun and educational tool for lifelong learning.  In math, we will work on becoming proficient with math facts and learn how to add and subtract, as well as counting tens and ones necessary for success in the grades beyond.  This, along with many other math concepts such as: problem solving, telling time, counting money and lots of new math vocabulary, just to name a few.  Science and Social Studies, P.E. and a little Art and Music will keep us busy all year.  We begin the year learning classroom rules and routines which help the students feel confident and secure in their new environment.

My conference time is from 12:30-1:15 by appointment.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
